"Ökkeş" became the mascot of the town: Everyone who comes takes a souvenir photo

The iguana attracts the attention of customers and some people come from towns and villages to see it. Some citizens also take souvenir photos with Ökkeş.

Customers have a good time with Ökkeş, who comes to the tables from time to time.

Business owner Güner Öztürk told AA that he went to Istanbul twice to Beşiktaş matches with Ökkeş, whom he took with him when he went out of town.

Öztürk, who explained that Ökkeş's birthplace is written as Çorum on his ownership certificate, said, "Since our town is small, Ökkeş's fame is known by everyone and some people even come to take photos with him."

Öztürk, who stated that he is interested in different animals, said, "I love interesting animals. We crossed paths with Ökkeş about 1.5 years ago, he is now 4 years old. He is a very social animal and has incredible interaction. There is a lot of demand from the public, they love him very much. Children come, they love him. Some people are afraid, but he is a harmless animal. His nails are just a little long."

Öztürk stated that he is a die-hard Beşiktaş fan and that he goes to matches with Ökkeş, and that he believes that he brings luck to Beşiktaş. Expressing that they attach importance to Ökkeş's health, Öztürk said that the iguana is regularly checked by a veterinarian.

Barış Karaarslan, who works as a waiter at the cafe, also stated that he was closely interested in Ökkeş's care.

Karaarslan, who stated that they love Ökkeş very much, said: "People often come to see him from outside. Those who see him for the first time are sometimes scared, but Ökkeş is a very calm animal. He does not have any aggression. He usually eats grass and never gets off my shoulder. I sometimes go out with Ökkeş to serve tea and coffee. Some people are nervous at first, but then we introduce him by carrying him on my shoulder. Sometimes they call him 'the iguana that went to the match'. I am 26 years old and a Beşiktaş fan, but Ökkeş went to the Beşiktaş match twice, I could never go. Am I jealous? Yes, I am."

Yusuf Laleli, one of the customers who came to the cafe, said that Ökkeş was an interesting animal and that it attracted the attention of those who came to the cafe.
